Interesting. I hate when compound words are shortened into fake non-compound words; i.e. "weblog" shortened to "blog". (But I don't hate that as much as I hate the word "mompreneurs".
I heart pushing words together and shortening them, too. Examples: 1) I'm still trying to get Wickets (Wicked tickets - which kind of makes me want to play croquet). 2) Do you want to buy my guitar? It's in mint condish... See? Isn't that fun?

The correct word is portmanteau--a word that should also probably be added to this list.
